What Are Scanners?

TradeOrca scanners are advanced tools designed for real-time market scanning or screening. Using TradeOrca’s intuitive no-code builder, you can create highly customized scanners tailored to your unique trading scanners, making TradeOrca a valuable resource for traders.

The name TradeOrca embodies our mission as a trading orchestration platform—empowering you to build once and automate anytime. Scanners continuously monitor selected equities or options, searching for conditions such as specific candle patterns. When these conditions are met, alerts are promptly sent via email or Discord to keep you informed.

Key Scanner Functionalities

  1. Market Scanning/Screening – Discover real-time market opportunities.
  2. Trend Identification – Quickly detect emerging trends to stay ahead of the curve.
  3. Signal or Trigger Generation – Automatically generate trade signals or triggers based on predefined conditions.
  4. Alerting – Receive instant alerts when conditions are met.

Tabs Overview

The scanner interface is divided into four main tabs for streamlined navigation:

  • Base tweaks – Configure the fundamental parameters of the scanner for live deployment and backtesting.
  • Scan Conditions – Define the specific criteria that trigger alerts.
  • Backtest Results – Analyze historical performance and refine scanners.
  • Trading Panel – Manage and deploy live scans.

Key Action Buttons

  1. Save Scanner – Validates and saves the scanner setup, highlighting any errors if present.
  2. Run Backtest – Executes a backtest and displays the results.
  3. Deploy – Activates the scanner to monitor live market data and send alerts when conditions are met.
  4. Live Execution Log – Displays a detailed log of timestamps or candles where conditions have been fulfilled.
  5. Stop Scanner – Immediately halts a live scanner and stops all alerts and triggers.

Scanner Pages

Scanners are structured into three dedicated pages:

Key Settings

  1. Instruments or Scripts (For Backtesting) – Specify assets for historical testing. Your scan conditions will be evaluated on historical data of selected instruments (e.g., AAPL, MSFT) for the specified backtesting period.
  2. Instruments or Scripts (For Live Deployment) – Select assets for live monitoring and deployment. Scanners will evaluate conditions on live data for these instruments (e.g., AAPL, MSFT).
  3. Evaluation Timeframe – Choose intervals like 1 minute, hourly, or daily.
    • Supported timeframes: 1 Minute, 2 Minutes, 3 Minutes, 4 Minutes, 5 Minutes, 10 Minutes, 15 Minutes, 30 Minutes, 45 Minutes, 1 Hour, 2 Hours, 3 Hours, 4 Hours, 1 Day, 1 Month.
    • For example, if your evaluation timeframe is 15 minutes, the scanner runs every 15 minutes after the candle is fully formed.
  4. Chart Type – Define the chart format (e.g., candlestick, Heikin-Ashi). Scanners support both formats. if chart type is candle stick it means we evaluate your scanner on candle stick data and if it hekin asi we evaluate your scanner on HeikinAshi data. Its not just chart type but it create modition to data your logic will run on.
  5. Start & End Dates – Set the date range for backtesting.
  6. Evaluation Data – Choose between live data, historical data, or both.
  7. Alert Frequency – Specify how often alerts should be sent.
  8. Security Type – Select the asset category (e.g., stocks, options).
  9. Days for Deployment – Define how long the scanner will run.

  • Multi-Timeframe Analysis – Analyze data across different timeframes, apply mathematical operations, and use candlestick patterns for reliable signals. This feature facilitates robust short-term and long-term trend confirmation.

Backtest Results Interpretation

Backtest results are crucial for evaluating and refining scanners. Key components include:

  1. Results Table – Summarizes scanned assets and results.
  2. Expanded Results – View detailed breakdowns of specific results.
  3. Seasonality Graph – Displays seasonal trends by day, week, or hour to identify optimal times for deployment.
  4. Trigger Plotting – Use the Load Results on Charts button to visualize triggers directly on the chart.
